Camp - Day 3

What a day we had at the Mount Tongariro tramp.  Before we even started to sit on the bus people were scared, excited, happy, sad and worried.  They were whinging and moaning saying “I cant do this.”  We started with about an 1 hour walk until we stopped for morning tea.  We had a bit of a brunch and started heading off again in single file.   About another hour up we had lunch.

When we were up at the lunch eating area we had the best view ever, it was so awesome.  We started to keep going up by the Ketatahi Springs, people were sweating, hearts were beating.  It was mostly flat ground when we were making our way up to the Ketatahi Springs and it was worth it seeing the awesomest view ever … it was amazing!!

Then people were rushing to go down, running, shoving and even falling over.  Pippa and Brianna  were speeding like they were racing for a finish line in cross country but at the end we all did our best and everyone was proud of themselves.

Being all sweaty and hot was the worst you could be but that’s how the teachers know that you did your best.  We had the most smiley faces. It was so relaxing at the end going to the Tokaanu Hot Pools, just resting our bones from that tyering tramp … it was awesome … WELL DONE!!!!

CAMP

Camp! Finally camp!!!!! We waited in the hall in the morning for the bus.  We left at 10:15am, it was a loooooong trip to Tarawera where our first stop was and already people were sleeping.  We went to 2 Mile bay for another stop, but not for long.  After a walk around the lake and playing on the jetty we hopped back on the bus. We finally arrived at the camp and everyone was pleased to get off as it was about 3 hours.  We unpacked and settled in.  After having dinner and learning a new grace we went for a short walk up the Gut Buster then we came back about 8:00pm.

VOLCANOES

Room 6 is learning all about volcanoes as it is part of our homework and that we are going to walk on a active volcano on camp. We are making posters, real exploding volcanoes, paintings and articles. Even though we have to learn heaps! Room 6 is having a great time on the way.
GOOD LUCK!

Screaming, running,
While the volcano is erupting.
People of all ages scared for their lives,
Throughout this town the lava thrives.
The buildings are slowly melting,
This is all too overwhelming!
Slowly, slowly it comes to an end,
But this mountain will always be our backyard friend.

Classroom Bonding Session

Well ...  I thought it would be a great idea for the students to have a bit of a "blow out" this afternoon.  They have had a great term and have worked so hard during production so we decided that an afternoon of bull-rush on a very wet field would be a great bonding session - what a cool way to end the term.

Well done Room 6 for your amazing, vibrant and fun personalities - you make me smile every day!

I think I'm on detention next term but it was worth it!

Production 2015 - What a fantastic bunch of students

Wow weee, what an amazing past few days we have had!  It has been an exciting time being involved in the Tamatea Int Production “Remembering What Makes Us New Zealanders”, particularly when you see 400 students actively involved.

The students in Room 6 were an amazing bunch also!  They worked as part of a team, created a performance that wowed their audience and showed so much respect and aroha in all that they did.

They made me super proud and I hope that they feel that same pride within themselves.  I am sure you will all be proud of their commitment and dedication too.

Here are some pictures from the show and the most fabulous message to come back to class to!! There will be more pictures to come!
